Rosie Perez says tearful goodbye speech on The View
Actress Rosie Perez will is the next to exit “The View” at the end of the show’s regular season next month. Producers are said to have been eyeing yet another shakeup of the show for next season, and those plans did not include Perez remaining as a regular panelist.
The 50-year-old said her tearful farewell to her co-host, Whoopi Goldberg and Nicolle Wallace in an emotional live show.
“I’ve decided that it’s time to move on. And I will say that today is very bitter-sweet for me,” Rosie said as she wiped away her tears.
“I am excited for what is to come but I am so sad to leave The View, the staff, the producers, and especially these 2 ladies,” she said, pointing to Whoopi and Nicolle.
“I want to thank you for your friendship, Nicolle, and your intelligence and your wit and your sunshine. Whoopi, I want to thank you for everything: your guidance, your professionalism, most of all, your friendship.”
“You are the captain of the ship,” she told Goldberg, who smiled and looked down at the floor.
Rosie and Wallace joined the lineup last fall. Former co-host Rosie O’Donnell departed soon after their arrival.
