Selfie gone wrong: Romanian teen dies while trying to take a special selfie

She died while trying to take the ‘the perfect’ photo of herself on top of a train’s roof

This is very tragic! Anna Ursu, 18, went to the train station in the northern Romanian town of Iasi in the hope of taking a ‘special’ selfie to post on Facebook.

However, while lying on top of the train, she accidentally touched the electrical field of a live wire with her leg sending 27,000 volts through her body and causing her to burst into flames.

A witness who tried to warn them of the dangers of what they were about to do, attempted to save Anna and extinguish her flaming clothes, but the 18-year-old died in hospital with more than 50 percent burns. Her friend, 17, is currently recovering in hospital.

The witness said he had called for the girls to get down when he saw them on top of the train but they ignored his warnings. He said shortly after he warned them, he heard a bang – and Anna burst into flames.

President Nkurunziza reacts to coup declaration by army general

Burundian presidency has reacted to the coup declaration by Burundi’s army general Godefroid Niyombare earlier today. Gen Niyombare had told reporters that he has dismissed the government of President Nkurunziza following massive protest against his third term bid which has led to many deaths. Reacting, the presidency said people involved in the coup plot will be arrested. Read below…

“It is with regret that we have learned that a group of soldiers rebelled this morning and made a fake declaration about a coup. The Presidency of the Republic wants the public opinion both in Burundi and abroad to know that this coup attempt has been stopped and that the people who read that statement on private local radio are being sought by the defence and security forces so that they are brought to justice. The Presidency of the Republic is asking the people of Burundi as well as foreigners to keep calm. Everything is being done to maintain security across the national territory.”

Mom shares graphic selfie, warning against the dangers of sunbeds

A young mother suffering from skin cancer has been praised for her bravery after sharing a shocking photo of her treatment as a stark warning to sunbed users.

Alabama nurse Tawny Willoughby, 27, showed her face covered with bloody scars and blisters in a Facebook photo that has been shared over 50,000 times.

‘If anyone needs a little motivation to not lay in the tanning bed and sun here you go! This is what skin cancer treatment can look like,’ she wrote.

As a teenager growing up in Kentucky, Willoughby admits that she used sunbeds four or five times a

week. She told CNN:

‘I had my own personal tanning bed in my home and so did a lot of my friends growing up… everyone tanned. I didn’t really even think about the future or skin cancer at the time.’

Six years ago one of Willoughby’s nursing school classmates was diagnosed with melanoma and so she decided to make her first dermatology appointment. At just 21 she was told she had skin cancer and since then she has had basal cell carcinoma five times and squamous cell carcinoma once.

DailyMail adds that she now visits her dermatologist every six to 12 months and ‘usually has a skin cancer removed at each checkup’. Tawny uses a specialist cream and has had a string of treatments, including using liquid nitrogen on her face to freeze tumours.

Willoughby is married to husband Cody and has a young son, Kayden.

‘Don’t let tanning prevent you from seeing your children grow up. That’s my biggest fear now that I have a two-year-old little boy of my own. Wear sunscreen and get a spray tan. You only get one skin and you should take care of it. Learn from other people’s mistakes.

Skin cancer is not always moles, only one of mine have been a mole. Get any suspicious, new and growing spot checked out. Anything that doesn’t heal, possibly bleeds on and off and crusts. The sooner you find it the less likely it will leave a disfiguring scar or grow deep enough to metastasize. Melanoma kills, non melanoma-disfigures (and can also kill).

Don’t be a statistic!’ she warned.

Woman fighting for life after being buried alive by bear

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being buried alive by a bear – which may have been saving her for its next meal. Natalya Pasternak, 55 (right), was attacked and seriously wounded when the bear (pictured left) pounced on her in the far east of Russia.

Mother-of-two Natalya, a post office worker, was collecting birch sap in a forest near Tynda in Amur region with a friend when the attack happened. A shocking picture taken by police shows her lying under the pile of foliage where the bear had buried her, a clawed and bloodied arm visible.

The Mirror has decided not to show the image because it was deemed too graphic.

Natalya had a miracle escape after her friend fled to raise the alarm with the emergency services.

She is now fighting for her life in a Russian hospital.

Although her dog barked to sound the alarm, the warning came too late and she and the pet were overwhelmed by the wild animal.

“The bear evidently thought the woman was dead and sought to bury her and hide its prey, apparently saving its next meal,” reported The Siberian Times.

Rescuers arrived at the scene and shot the bear – a four-year-old female – dead when it attacked them.

Then they noticed the woman’s arm jutting out of a pile of leaves and sticks, bloodied with bear claw wounds.

The woman was “alive and conscious” despite serious injuries.

Her first question was: “Have you killed the bear?”

Mrs Pasternak suffered serious scalp and thigh wounds, and was in “deep shock”.

Doctors at Tynda Hospital said she remained in a ‘severe’ condition with her two adult children at her bedside.

Speaking to the doctor’s on E!’s plastic surgery correction show Botched, he said “I wanted just a little bit of definition and they just got bigger and bigger,” he told the doctors. “(Now) I’m worried if they keep leaking I’m going to end up with small lips again!”

Apart from the potentially disastrous situation with his lips, the botox has also rendered the young makeup artist almost expressionless; “I can’t really move my face,” he said.
