Rich Homie Quan found himself in a tidal wave of controversy over his rap lyrics on a leaked Rich Gang track called “I Made It.”
A few months ago, rapper Rich Homie Quan released a song titled ‘I Made It’ featuring Young Thug where he rapped about raping people. In the song, Riche Homie spits,
“I don’t want your ho, just want that cookie from her & She tried to resist, so I took it from her / How are you gonna tell me no? You must not know who I am.”
After outrage from fans, Rich Homie apologized telling Billboard Magazine,
“I Made It” was never intended to be released. The song was not lyrically what I wanted to say and was not completed. Without my knowledge, there was a studio leak of the recording. I apologize that it’s out; and I have asked my lawyer to pursue a cease and desist on the song immediately. To be clear, I would never condone rape.”
Heavy fighting over the control of affairs in Burundi is currently ongoing between soldiers loyal to Burundi president Nkurunziza and those loyal to the leader of the coup that overthrew the president yesterday, Godefroid Niyombare.
According to reports, soldiers loyal to President Nkurunziza are in full control of the presidential palace, the national radio and TV stations, the airport and the centre of Bujumbura, Burundi’s capital.
Media houses including radio and TV stations have been attacked and beaming signals stopped at the moment. The whereabouts of the President is still unknown as he has since left Tanzania where he went to brief members of the African Union on the crisis in his country regarding his third term bid when the coup was declared.
Meanwhile the African Union Peace & Security Council will convene an emergency meeting this afternoon to consider the situation in Burundi.
After being landed in detention, Lauren penned a letter to school bosses. 17 year old Lauren Wiggins was criticized by her school bosses and put in detention for wearing a ‘sexually distracting’ halter neck dress (pictured right) to school. Lauren later hit back at teachers at her her school, New Brunswick school in Canada in an emotional letter she posted on Facebook saying that their attitudes are supporting discrimination against women and encouraging the objectification of women. Below is what she wrote;
“Today I received a detention because the outfit I am wearing is considered inappropriate and a sexual distraction to the young men in my school. Enough is enough. I’m tired of the unjust standards that we as women are held up to.
If you are truly so concerned that a boy in this school will get distracted by my upper back and shoulders, then he needs to be sent home and practice self-control.
I’m tired of the discrimination against our bodies, and I’m absolutely fed up with comments that make us feel like we can’t be comfortable without being provocative
In today’s society, a woman’s body is constantly discriminated against and hypersexualized to the point where we can no longer wear the clothing that we feel comfortable in without the accusation and/or assumption that we are being provocative.
Schools are the social building blocks in an adolescent’s life, meant to teach them how to communicate and develop relationships with others and also learning about themselves and who they want to be.It’s preached upon us to be individual, to be ourselves.
The double standard here is that when we try, we are then told we’re wrong. If you are truly so concerned that a boy in this school will get distracted by my upper back and shoulders then he needs to be sent home and practice self control.
