The ex-boyfriend of a heavily pregnant woman has appeared in court charged with child destruction after she was attacked and lost her baby. Remember the 21 year heavily pregnant lady who was attacked by two men in Peckham, London on Monday June 15th and stamped on her stomach, causing her to lose her pregnancy? (read here). Well, a man named Kevin Wilson – identified as the father of the baby and the young lady’s ex-boyfriend has since been arrested for the crime.

Kevin, 21, appeared in court today accused of repeatedly kicking Malorie Bantala in the stomach. She was eight months pregnant and she lost the baby. He is being charged with child destruction and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Wilson, who came to the court with his family was charged with

“intent to destroy the life of a child capable of being born alive, by a wilful act, namely kicking and stamping on the stomach of the 32-week pregnant mother, causing the child to die before it had any existence independent of its mother”.

And

“Unlawfully and maliciously” causing grievous bodily harm to Miss Bantala with intent.

Pregnant Malorie Bantala was pushed to ground and kicked in stomach

Malorie Bantala, 21, who was 32 weeks pregnant, was pushed to the ground by two men who stamped on her ‘clearly visible’ stomach, according to detectives.

She was attacked by two thugs in Talfourd Place, Peckham,  south east London on Monday June 15th . Two men wearing motorbike crash helmets pushed her to the ground and continually kicked and stamped on her stomach around 8pm on Monday, before running off.

Police gave her emergency care at the scene before she was taken to hospital, but doctors were unable to save her baby. Bantala remains in a critical condition in intensive care, Express UK reports.

Her mother, Ida, 49, revealed today how her eldest daughter was “so excited” about the upcoming birth and had already bought some clothes for her baby.

The mother-of-four said: “She was excited. She bought the baby’s clothes and everything.

“Today she lost her baby. She was in pain and she was crying.

“She’s in hospital doing OK but lost the baby this morning and is so upset. She was happy. She wanted the baby.

“I didn’t know who the baby’s father was.”

Ms Bantala was attacked on a patch of grass yards from the entrance to Osprey House, a block of flats on the Peckham estate where she has lived since 2001.


A 40 year-old neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “I came home from work and saw two guys running off. I didn’t know what had happened until I saw her lying on the floor. She was on the floor in distress, crying. She said she had been kicked in the stomach. I helped her up and she thought she was bleeding so I helped her to my toilet.”
