Police shoot dead white tiger that killed a man after flood water freed zoo animals  in Georgia

Early Sunday morning, massive flood in Tbilisi ,Georgia, destroyed homes and cut electricity and power supply to residents. The flood also destroyed a local zoo, killing some animals and freeing others. One of the animals freed was a tiger and it has been killed by police after it killed a man.

The man, 43 year old Otar Tsukhishvili, was mauled to death when he entered a warehouse where the tiger was hiding after escaping from the zoo. The man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and his throat slit. Doctors were unable to save him.That’s the tiger above.


A hyena is said to still be on the loose, causing serious panic amongst residents in Tbilisi.

The Interior Ministry later said the tiger had been killed, with pictures showing what officials claimed was the culprit being stretchered away from the scene by municipality workers

Lions, bears, wolves and a hippo escape from Zoo in Georgia after serious flood ...now roaming the streets - Pics



Before being cornered, pictures showed the large hippo wandering along a main street among stranded cars on a dual carriageway 

Wild animals including lions, tigers, bears, jaguars, wolves and other animals escaped from their zoo this morning after serious flood and are currently roaming the streets of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia (a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia). According to officials in the city capital, the flooding has killed at least 8 people and several animals in the zoo died. The ones that didn’t die in the flood, which happened after a river burst its banks in central Tbilisi after hours of torrential rain, are now roaming the streets. Dozens of families are now without shelter after their homes were flooded and cars swept away. Thousands of people are currently left without water and electricity.


Some of the animals that escaped from their enclosure have been captured by security forces while the more dangerous one have been shot dead. See some photos below…

Residents of Tbilisi were being urged to stay indoors until authorities can track down all of the dangerous animals that escaped from their pens
