Doughnut shop owner wants to press charges against Ariana Grande

The owner of the doughnut shop where pop star Ariana Grande licked and spit on several doughnuts now wants to file charges against Grande over the incident.

Joe Marin, owner of Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, said he wants charges brought against Grande over the incident, in which the pop star licked several doughnuts she had not purchased before saying, “I hate Americans. I hate America.”

“No, I did press charges,” Marin told the radio station. “And then when I was reading the newspapers, it said my name, that I decided not to, and I don’t know where that came from.”

In a statement Monday, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department had said that Marin had “declined to press charges against Ms. Grande” but Marin said that is not what happened. The doughnut shop owner detailed the exchange he had with Lake Elsinore police:

“The last time I talked to the police officer, he told me, ‘How many doughnuts did she lick?’ Then I said, ‘Well, she licked two of them and spit on two of them…’ And then he said, ‘Well, how many doughnuts are you out?.. How much are your doughnuts?’ I said ‘A dollar a piece.’ Then the cop said, ‘Ok, so basically, you lost four dollars.’ And then I said, ‘Well, that’s not the point, though.’”

Marin also said that local people who had viewed the video were all “on his side,” and that police had caused him a headache when they told him they could not view the surveillance footage on their equipment and made him transfer it to a CD.

“I think she (Grande) should be pressed with charges, because the thing is, just because she’s popular, and if it was one of us, like a regular customer, yeah, they would do something about it.”

Marin added that even if Grande apologized directly to him for licking the doughnuts, something she has not addressed in either of her two apologies, he still would not drop charges against her.

Wolfee Donuts received a heath downgrade to a “B” rating last week after an Environmental Health inspector visited the shop in the wake of the incident. The shop can remain open while it works to correct the violations.

The singer later apologized in an official statement saying, “I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American.”

The footage of Ariana Grande licking donuts on the counter meant for customers emerged on Tuesday, and on Wednesday she canceled her appearance at a MLB All-Star Concert this Saturday. She has since being replaced at the gig by Demi Lovato.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ariana insisted she was pulling out of the event because she’s had her wisdom teeth removed and apologized for her comments made during a trip to a store on July 4 that were caught on video by a security camera.

In the doughnut shop video, Ariana and Alvarez can be seen at first pretending to lick the doughnuts on display on the top of the counter.

Daring each other to get closer,they esch licked some doughnuts then kissed each other while laughing at the wole incident.

An account of the incident came from 22-year-old Mayra Solis, the cashier on duty at the donut shop who claimed the singer not only didn’t purchase any of the doughnuts she licked but also said ‘she was really rude.’

Now the shop owner, where the singer was seen in footage licking the sugar coated goods and also heard saying: ‘I hate Americans. I hate America,’ is pushing for for charges to be brought against her of ‘cross contamination’ because it failed it’s health inspection

Meanwhile, authorities are now looking into the incident and seeing if they might press charges as reports surface claiming the store owner wants to have the two charged for ‘cross-contamination.’

The issue is if food-borne illnesses or germs are transferred as a result of the ‘licking’ it could be potentially seen as a crime.

I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my county. What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words. As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole. The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me.  We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies.  We need to demand more from our food industry. However I should have known better in how I expressed myself; and with my new responsibility to others as a public figure I will strive to be better. As for why I cannot be at the MLB show, I have had emergency oral surgery and due to recovery I cannot attend the show. I hope to make it up to all those fans soon. That being said let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words.

Sean also traveled to see her “10 times more” than she went to see him. He claimed once she demanded that he blow tens of thousands of dollars to take a private jet to see her. Sean, who grew up poor, felt she was a spendthrift … a sign of immaturity.

But the crowning blow was just after the breakup. They were still talking and the door was slightly open for a reconciliation, when Bieber jumped onstage in L.A. and grabbed Ariana from behind. Even though Ariana pushed Biebs away, Sean believes it was all calculated — NOT by Bieber but Ariana — to hurt him.
