Dr Gwen Korovin was inside Yorkville Endoscopy clinic when Rivers died
The doctor accused of taking selfies with Joan Rivers during the unauthorized laryngoscopy procedure that ultimately killed her has broken her silence about the surgery.
Dr Gwen Korovin, the ‘throat specialist to the stars’, was at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic on August 28 2014, working on Rivers even though she was not authorized to be in the room, according to reports.
Rivers went into cardiac arrest during the procedure and died on September 4 at Mount Sinai Hospital,which made her daughter, Melissa Rivers to file a medical malpractice suit against Korovin, 56, and others. In the suit, Korovin was accused of taking a selfie during the procedure but she has denied the allegations.
Korovin has never spoken out about what happened during the procedure, but in newly filed papers in Manhattan Supreme Court, her lawyer denied outright many of the allegations Rivers’ daughter Melissa lodged against her in a medical malpractice suit.
Korovin’s response to the suit, which was filed in April but just made public this week, issues blanket denials to most of the allegations, but does say Cohen “invited” her to perform a flexible laryngoscopy on Rivers. Korovin, who’s treated the likes of Hugh Jackman, Celine Dion and Mick Jagger, also said none of the other doctors objected to her being in the procedure room.
